Narcisismo y Emblema/Narcissism & Emblem is the artist´s book and catalogue of an exhibition that never took place.

At the beginning of the 90´s Veroni was working intensely on painting, that genre that brings with - more than any other media - issues involving insertion and acceptance in conventional artistic circuits. Aware of this dependence, RV decided to approach painting as a field for experimentation and reflection, whilst he carried on with his activities in public art projects through printmaking.

The book contains a series of reflections about the narcissism of a painter and the emblem that he chooses to represent himself. Through RV´s texts we can trace the origin of subsequent works, with their symbols inserted in the cityscape in similar way that used in his last series of paintings, graffitis and lambda prints.

The book narrates the "encounter" with a street graffiti: a heart with crossed bones. The text describes the identification with the symbol, the making of a kite following the symbol shape, its inaugural flight in the city and the starting of a series of paintings about this subject.

Narcisismo y Emblema is an edition of 300, numbered and signed. The size is 16 x 25 cm. with 16 pages entirely screenprinted on Conqueror Verge of 220 and 130 gsm. Printed at the studio in Pedro Goyena Street. Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1993. Text in Spanish.

Narcisismo y Emblema es el catálogo de una muestra que nunca existió. A principios de los 90 Veroni se dedica intensamente a la pintura. Sin embargo el género trae consigo -más que otros medios- problemas de inserción y aceptación en los circuitos artísticos convencionales. Esta dependencia hizo que RV mantuviera a la pintura como un medio de experimentación y reflexión continuando sus actividades de arte público por otros canales como el de la gráfica.

El libro contiene una serie de reflexiones sobre el narcisismo de un pintor y el emblema que elige para representarse. A través de sus textos se puede rastrear el origen de obras posteriores con símbolos insertos en el paisaje como es posible ver en las últimas pinturas de Veroni, su serie de graffitis y en series fotográficas como Buenos Aires y Glasgow.

El libro narra el "encuentro" en la calle con un garabato: un corazón con huesos cruzados, la identificación con el símbolo, la realización de un barrilete con su forma, su vuelo inaugural en la ciudad y el comienzo de una serie de pinturas con tal motivo.

Narcisismo y Emblema es una edición de 300 ejemplares numerados y firmados. Su tamaño es de 16 x 25 cm., con 16 páginas impresas íntegramente en serigrafía sobre papel Conqueror Verge de 220 y 130 grs. Fue realizado en el estudio de la calle Pedro Goyena, Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1993.
