Ave, Cesar…era el saludo que los gladiadores del circo romano dirigían desde la arena al emperador presente antes de iniciar la lucha.
El dolar representa para las endebles economías latinoamericanas el punto de referencia del valor estable. En los períodos inflacionarios o hiperinflacionarios se sabe por intermedio de este en cuanto se devalua, a diario, la moneda local.
La influencia política y económica que ejerce Estados Unidos sobre América Latina hace que muchos de sus habitantes observen a este como a un imperio.

The political and economic influence exerted by the USA over its southern neighbours has led to many Latin Americans viewing the States as an empire-building force.
For the weak Latin American economies, the dollar symbolises stability of value. During their periods of inflation or hyperinflation it has been the dollar that has highlighted the daily devaluation of the local currencies.
In the struggle for survival the dollar has ruled like a distant emperor.
