Algunos de los títulos de estos billetes están escritos de forma fonética, es decir, reflejan el peculiar modo en que los porteños, habitantes de Buenos Aires, pronuncian ciertas sílabas. Por ejemplo: Eya por Ella.

El idioma de los argentinos es de estructura castellana, aunque con ricos aportes de diversos dialectos italianos y otras lenguas de la inmigración y un caudal importante de vocablos indios como lo son el quéchua, el guaraní y el mapuche.

A la suma de estas palabras, vocabulario formado por las contribuciones de diversos dialectos dentro de un idioma común, lo llamamos lunfardo. Así, palabras como guita o mango son, para nosotros, sinónimos de dinero. En cuanto a la conjunción que aparece modificada por la sílaba ke - una variante de influencia punk - forma parte de una reforma ortográfica que hiciera en mi juventud.

Some of the titles of these banknotes were written in phonetic form, that is to say, reflecting the particular way in which the 'porteños' (inhabitants of Buenos Aires) pronounce certain syllables: the LL is pronounced as a sh, for instance, but the sound is represented by a Y, i.e: Eya instead of Ella (she).

The language of the Argentinians is mainly of a Castilian Spanish structure, although richly influenced by diverse Italian dialects and other languages of immigration. There is also an abundance of terms derived from the languages of the 'Quechua', 'Guarani' and 'Mapuche' Indians.

It is the combination of these words - vocabulary formed by the contribution of diverse dialects within the Spanish - that is called 'Lunfardo' (the living language of Buenos Aires). Thus, words such as 'guita' or 'mango' become synonyms for 'dinero' (money).

There are also slight modifications in the orthography: eg. the changing of the conjugation 'que' (what/that) to 'ke'. These result from a reform of language which I worked on in my youth.
