Buenos Aires es una serie de 23 fotografías digitales
en las cuales se representa a esta ciudad de inmigrantes y a la
lucha diaria de sus habitantes por sobrevivir.
Durante el 2000 y el 2001 RV utilizó para este trabajo la
estrategia del flaneur: largas caminatas alrededor de la ciudad
sin un rumbo predeterminado fotografiando y tomando apuntes de la
particular arquitectura de Buenos Aires y sus barrios.
La introducción de figuras emblemáticas representando
al tiempo, al destino, al deseo, etc, en el paisaje urbano crean
un sutil juego de metáforas. En estas no solo se hace referencia
a los avatares de la existencia sino que a la vez – según
en que sitio de la ciudad estén situadas estas personificaciones
– señala problemas políticos y sociales.
Títulos tales como Hueso y los monopolios,
Tiempo, el primer trabajador o El
paso del Martillo por la esquina Homero Manzi sugieren, en orden,
comentarios económicos, políticos y culturales que
recurren a la memoria y la complicidad de los habitantes de su ciudad.

This series of 23 lambda prints reflects on this city of
immigrants and their daily struggle for survival.
For this project, made during 2000 and 2001, RV resorted to the
strategy of the flaneur:
long walks around town with no predetermined aim, taking photographs
and notes about this unique city, its architecture and its neighbourhoods.
The insertion of emblematic figures representing time, destiny,
desire, etc in the cityscape create a subtle mix of metaphors. These
images not only refer to the ups and downs of human existence but
also, depending on the landmarks where these symbols are placed,
to the complex political and social problems of his own country.
Titles such as Bone and the Multinationals,
Time, the first worker and The
Hammer walking past Homero Manzi Corner suggest, respectively,
economical, political and cultural comments turning to the memory
and the complicity of the city’s inhabitants.
